Rabbits Golf Association
In 2014 we joined the NERGA North East Rabbits Golf Association. We finished 5th in our first year. There are five leagues “based on an area basis”. The winner and runner up from each area, along with the best individual player from all the teams, play in a final on a “team” and “individual basis”.
Players with a handicap 16 to 28 can take part, the format is team based consisting of eight players, playing stableford format off the yellow tees. The top seven scores count but in the event of a tie the eighth score will be included. We play only one home game per season which this year is Sunday 20th August 2017. The away games cost £10 green fees each and the squad of players is rotated to try and allow everyone to play at least three matches a season.
Fixtures for 2017 Green Zone include, Darlington – 16th April, Ripon – 7th May, Bishop Auckland – 21st May, Houghton le Spring – 3rd June, Blackwell Grange – 17th June, Kirbymoorside – 1st July, Thirsk & Northallerton – 29th July, Catterick – 13th August and Prudhoe – 20th August.
New players are welcomed and as long as they have a handicap of 16 in their first team game. Even if they drop below 16 they can continue to play the rest of the season.
