Hole By Hole Guide

1st Hole - Sponsored by Thompson's of Prudhoe. A straight drive over the marker post sets you up for a short iron to the green. Be careful not to be too strong with your approach or you could run off the back of the green. Two small green side bunkers protect the green.

2nd Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes . Although only 308 yards in length the view from the tee is daunting. If you drive safely through the gap in the trees and avoid the woodland of Stanley Burn on the right you will be rewarded with a short iron to the green. The green is protected by 4 bunkers. Many a medal card has been spoiled early in the round.

3rd Hole -Sponsored by Thompson's of Prudhoe. Left of the marker post is the ideal line, especially if you are a big hitter. Over the hill and the fairway slopes down from left to right to the green. The green is protected by tall trees on the right and a bunker on the left. Careful out of bounds all the way down the right hand side.

4th Hole -  The danger is on the right hand side with the out of bounds and large trees that may catch your drive and block your approach to the green. A long green guarded by 3 bunkers - try to leave an up hill putt on this fast green.

5th Hole - Sponsored by Solar Trophies & Sports. Big hitters can reach the green off the tee but it is a risky shot - 4 bunkers protect the green. The safer option is to play short of all the bunkers leaving a pitch for the approach.

6th Hole - Sponsored by Astley Signs. A straight drive to avoid being blocked out by the trees on both sides of the fairway. The fairway in front of the green falls sharply to the left so anything short will run into the bunker on the left.  A bunker to the right of the green gives the hole added protection.

7th Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes . The first par 3 and a blind tee shot. The large green slopes from front to back and left to right. Two bunkers on the right side of the green will catch the  shot pushed right.

8th Hole -Sponsored by Thompson's of Prudhoe. Drive over the marker post and the fairway slopes down to the green. A bold approach shot could run through the green and into trouble. Green side bunkers left and right guard the green.

9th Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes . A long par 4 and slightly uphill and often against the prevailing wind. Drive to the right of the old hedge but avoid the three bunkers to the right of the fairway, that are blind from the tee and you are left with a long iron to a two-tier green. The green is near the clubhouse so it is ideal if you are playing 27 holes in the day.

10th Hole - Sponsored by Hollycroft Financial Services At 440 yards a long par 4 although a good drive will carry a long way down the fairway. Green side bunkers can make it look a narrow entry to the green with a long iron. A large green with lots of breaks, try and leave an uphill putt.

11th Hole - The second par 3 with the green nestling in front of mature trees. The bunkers at the front of the green will catch anything short. A third bunker, on the right of the green is hidden from the tee.

12th Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes Not a long hole at 274 yards but an accurate tee shot is needed to avoid trees on both sides of the fairway. The green is raised and anything short will roll back down the hill and may fall into the ditch that runs across the fairway. The green is small and very fast, especially downhill!

13th Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes .  A classic par 3 in a perfect setting. A long narrow two-tier green, guarded by 3 bunkers - front, left and right. When you putt out take a look back at the tee - perfect setting - hope you will agree!

14th Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes The only par 5 on the course requires a long drive over the brow of the hill. Most golfers will play the second shot straight ahead avoiding the two fairway bunkers before turning right and playing uphill to the green. If the drive is long, you may go for the green in two but beware the out of bounds to the right. Whatever you decide, take time to admire the views offered by this hole. This hole was voted the signature hole during 2012.

15th Hole - Sponsored by Fryers Plaice (Burnopfield). A raised tee makes this relatively short par 3 look easy. Watch out - the front bunker will catch anything short and out of bounds is right behind the green. The green has a subtle slope from left to right and is very fast.

16th Hole - A dog-leg right and a solid drive is needed especially when the prevailing wind blows. Big hitters must be careful of the two bunkers on the corner of the dog-leg. A raised green guarded by bunkers left and right.

17th Hole - A sharp dog-leg left and the ideal drive is to the corner leaving a clear view of a long, narrow green that is very fast. If you cut off the corner and fail to keep the ball on the green the bunker on the right awaits. Take in the views before you tee off.

18th Hole - Sponsored by GenToo Homes A long par 4 to finish with a gentle dog-leg left. Go for the marker post to avoid the trouble left and right. A small pot bunker guards a large green. Finish marking your card on the bench behind the green then take in the views!

19th Hole - Relax with a drink, a snack or meal and watch some sport on Satellite TV
